With more than 25 years of experience working with animals, Josh Ruffell most recently served as Assistant Curator at Australia Zoo, located in Beerwah, Queensland. Responsible for general operations of both the zoo and the wildlife hospital, Josh Ruffell ensured the safety of the animals and guests while simultaneously providing education and entertainment.

From a young age, Mr. Ruffell took a keen interest in animals. After studying biology at Salem State College in Massachusetts, he graduated the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College. Specializing in wildlife education and exotic animal training, he worked with animals such as an Olive Baboon, Black Leopard, and a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot during the program.

Subsequently, Josh Ruffell began work as a professional animal trainer for Birds and Animals Unlimited, where he managed and presented a variety of animals in movies such as Bad Boys II and Failure to Launch, as well as television shows including Days of Our Lives. After spending time overseas as an animal trainer and project manager at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan, he served as a wildlife consultant for several seasons on the television show Survivor. In this position, Mr. Ruffell was on location to educate personnel on all aspects of wildlife safety unique to the various regions.

Josh Ruffell also has open water SCUBA certification and enjoys diving, snorkeling, and exploring the underwater world.
